I am a trial attorney. I have been trying cases for over 20 years and cannot imagine a more engaging or rewarding job. I wake up every morning thinking, "Wow—I get paid to do this."
As a former New York City prosecutor, much of my courtroom experience was gained in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Criminal Division (pictured on the right). As a Senior Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, I tried cases ranging from arson to attempted murder from some of America’s most dangerous police precincts. I litigated hundreds of matters, learned the importance of mastering procedure and preparation, and gained valuable insight into what makes a jury tick.
Most importantly, my time as a prosecutor made me love trial work. I realized that there is a reason why so many movies and television shows focus on litigation: because the process is inherently dramatic. The late hours preparing at the office, the frustration of dealing with opposing attorneys, and the stress of work that changes lives—it’s all worth it when you stand in the courtroom and hear the judge say, "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, have you reached a verdict?"
As much as I enjoyed my time at the District Attorney's office, I knew I couldn’t stay in New York City forever. When my wife and I had our first baby, we decided it was time to pack up our Brooklyn apartment and find a place better suited to raising a family. We chose Pittsburgh, where I was born and raised and where I still have family.
From 2009 to 2023, I worked at one of Pittsburgh's busiest litigation firms. I primarily handled complex medical malpractice cases, but also took on car crash, slip-and-fall, insurance bad faith cases, and even some criminal defense matters.
In 2023, I joined a national practice but transitioned again in early 2024 when I was recruited by Filevine, a leading developer of legal software. I joined Filevine's Expert Team, providing technical support, guidance, and assistance to law firms nationwide. After a few months, I was recruited by one of their customers to become their Director of Operations, responsible for overseeing the firm's legal software systems.
Despite my involvement in technology, I missed the courtroom and sought a balance between tech and litigation. I found that balance at Benjamin Levine Law. Here, I work with a firm that is growing both its personal injury practice and its use of legal software. I'm thrilled to be part of a team that cares deeply about its clients and strives to deliver the highest quality legal services.
Outside of work, I’m involved in various community and social organizations. I served as President of the Board of Commissioners for Aleppo Township and as a Board Member of the Quaker Valley Council of Governments. I am an ordained Ruling Elder at Sewickley Presbyterian Church, where I was a past President of the Corporation. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Mary Robert's Reinhart Nature Park.
Court is a wondrous and fascinating place. Unfortunately, if you’re there as a litigant, it usually means that something significant—and often unfortunate—has happened in your life. What makes me love my job is the opportunity to merge my experience and passion for trial work to help people navigate one of the most frightening and pivotal times in their lives.
